Barnyard presents 90s Mania party

Don’t miss out on this ultimate 90s party at the Barnyard Theatre from 8 March until 17 April.

GATEWAY’S Barnyard Theatre celebrates the venue’s 100th major production with a trip back to the end of the 20th century when it stages 90s Mania from 8 March to 17 April.

Featuring an 11-piece cast of singers, dancers and musicians, 90s Mania is a blast from the past that saw an emergence of new iconic bands such as Nirvana, Counting Crows, Eagle-Eye Cherry and more. During that era, there was an emergence of a new selection of rock and pop divas such as Alanis Morissette, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Gloria Estefan and also new male rockers such as Robbie Williams, Lenny Kravitz and Ricky Martin.

The 90s hip-hop scene achieved popularity with Coolio and Will Smith, while the boy and all-girl groups emerged with vengeance with names such as The Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, Backstreet Boys, Westlife, Boyz II Men and NSYNC, which all dominated the pop charts. The old-school rockers also made their mark with groups such as Genesis, Mike and The Mechanics, Roxette and UB40, while South African music took to the world stage with names such as Brenda Fassie, Mandoza and Vicky Sampson’s hit song, African Dream, which celebrated the birth of a new South Africa in 1994.

90s Mania promises to deliver an awesome night that will bring back the memories, songs and parties that saw the close of the millennium.

The cast presenting 90s Mania are Graeme Wicks, Zak Toerien, Tarquinn Whitebooi, Jae Green and Martine Loxton on vocals, with Nic Rush on guitar and vocals, Calli Thomson on keyboards, Nico Badenhorst on bass guitar, Michael Ramisimong on drums and Jemma Shankland dancing.

Tickets are R155 each from Wednesday to Saturday, with discounted specials of R120 each every Tuesday night and R110 each for the Sunday matinée show.
