SATURDAY

AGLOW will meet on Saturday, 13 February at Durban Children’s Home, Kildare Road, Glenwood, at 9.15am for 9.30am. Take a friend and meet new ones at the fellowship of Aglow International. Contact Margaret on 071 606 0065, all welcome.

STELLA Park Bowling Club will host a Valentine’s dance on Saturday, 13 February at 6.30pm. This will be a barnyard-style dance; take your own snacks. All drinks must be bought from the bar. There will be music by John Watson. Tickets are R50. Contact Ron on 083 630 6214.

GO along for a guided walk in the Glenholme Nature Reserve, situated in the grounds of the Kloof & Highway SPCA, on Saturday, 13 February, starting from the steps of the SPCA Tea Room at 10am. Easy walking for about 90 minutes and included a visit to the history of the area display in the tea room. All other SPCA charity shops will be open before and after the walk. All welcome, including dogs on a lead. No charge but donations welcome.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club will meet at Station Master’s Arms, 4 Inanda Road in Hillcrest on Saturday, 13 February at 1.45pm. Moderate 10km walk along rail reserve via St Helier’s Dam with one long uphill, followed by drinks at The Station Master’s Arms. Contact 082 820 8182.

JOIN the North Coast Art Group‘s inspiring and educational monthly talk and art demonstration on Saturday, 13 February from 9am to noon at the Parish of the Blessed Sacrament (2 Newport Avenue, Virginia). The demo will be presented by well-known watercolour artist, Marion Townsend. Entrance costs R30 for members and R40 for visitors and refreshments will be included.

THE Happiness Course, a meditation programme for everyone, runs every Saturday morning at 10.30am to noon at 26 Menston Road, Westville. During this course, based on a special arrangement of meditations known as Lamrim, learn how to connect to your inner potential for peace, love and freedom and begin our journey to a happiness we hardly knew existed. Everyone is welcome, suitable for absolute beginners. R60 donation to non-profit organisation.

SUNDAY

THE Highway branch of WESSA invites all to a double event at the Frank Farrer Hall, Palmiet Nature Reserve (at the lower end of Old New Germany Road in Westville) on Sunday, 14 February. First, a bring-and-braai where fires will be available from 1pm. Take your own food and drink. In the event of rain, the fires will be under cover. Secondly, there will be a talk on indigenous gardening by Anno Tor at 3pm. All welcome. No charge, donations welcome.

DURBAN Ramblers Hiking Club will meet at the main parking area at Stainbank Nature Reserve, Yellowwood Park on Sunday, 14 February at 8am, for a hike through grassland and wooded areas. Take tick repellent. R20 entrance. Contact 082 417 0204.
