Orange bags supply disrupted
Municipality sheds some light on the orange bag shortage.
THE eThekwini Municipality advised that there are currently delays with the supply of the orange recycling bags.
According to the municipality, this is largely due to the change in contractors manufacturing the bags. The supply of raw materials was behind schedule, resulting in insufficient bags coming off the production line.
“We are therefore experiencing a backlog in deliveries of the bags to households,” said head of communications, Tozi Mthethwa.
The municipality is working to resolve the situation and restore the delivery of bags to all areas.
“Currently bags are being distributed as they come out of production, we apologise for the inconvenience caused,” said Mthethwa.
Residents can place their recyclable goods in any coloured bag except a black bag and it will be removed by DSW staff and recycled. This is only until the issue with the orange bags is resolved.
