Monday Motivation: Beating procrastination

A three-step guide to being an outstanding individual.

Is there anyone on earth who can stand up and confidently claim that she/he doesn’t suffer from procrastination? If so, kindly get in touch with us and let us know how you do it. We would love to find out.

In the meantime, let us touch base with the majority of human beings who suffer from this ‘underrated disease’ while the rest of you (thoroughly diligent people) prepare to share with us your superhuman skills of how you go about beating it.

To begin with, we went on twitter to find out what the tweeps have been tweeting about this topic. Here is what they had to say:

After going through these and other tweets, we then went around our newsroom to get tips on how our journos manage to keep a 100% rate of meeting deadlines… Yes, 100% because we are awesome like that.

After chatting with most of them we decided to share these ones as our top three ways to deal with procrastination.

1. Do acknowledge that procrastination is real; that it affects most of us; and use that as an opportunity to be the exception

2. Ask yourself as to why you are having difficulty starting the task at hand and then evaluate if your answers make you seem as a useless or strong individual

3. Remind yourself just how much relaxation time you would create if you got to do all of your tasks immediately

By doing so not only will you create a good habit of being outstanding but you will also afford yourself enough leisure time to do your ‘other’ stuff.

We hope that these tips will help in some way or the other, and please make sure that you try them as soon as you decide to beat procrastination – whenever that might be.
