White Mountain 2015, perfect weekend escape

The festival is held at White Mountain Lodge near Giant’s Castle, only 185km from Durban and just 25km off the N3 on tarred roads.

IT’S never too soon to start planning your next getaway, so if you like the idea of unwinding in a stunning setting while enjoying a great line-up of live acoustic acts, then White Mountain 2015 will be just the ticket. This year also marks the 10th festival and word is it’s going to be a celebration to remember.

Running from Thursday, 24 September (Heritage Day) to Sunday, 27 September, the festival is held at White Mountain Lodge near Giant’s Castle, only 185km from Durban and just 25km off the N3 on tarred roads.

Included on the bill are Matthew Mole, Rowan Stuart, Rubber Duc, Margaret’s Daughter, Howie Combrink, Connecting Stars, Shomon, Tuin, Holly and The Woods, Bad Peter, Majozi, Early Hours and international Australian duo, Jamie MacDowell and Tom Thum, a not-to-be-missed collaboration that combines heartfelt songwriting and melodic finger-work with world-class beatboxing.

Festival-goers can also look forward to colourful arts and crafts, a wide variety of food and drink outlets, great local craft beer plus loads of outdoor leisure activities and a fun trail run presented by TRAIL Magazine – all set against a backdrop of the scenic central Drakensberg. And that’s not forgetting the lodge’s spacious grounds, fishable dam, swimming pool and charming old pub (with satellite TV and live music), which add another dimension to the usual festival experience.

Known for its intimate, relaxed atmosphere, White Mountain is one of the best-kept secrets on the music festival circuit and the perfect (long) weekend escape.

Tickets are available through Computicket and include camping fees. For more information, visit www.c-weed.com/wmf or contact 031 563 0824.
