UShaka searches for new talent

Have you got what it takes to be an uShaka Marine World star?

USHAKA Marine World is once again looking for KwaZulu-Natal’s new and emerging talent to add to the entertainment line-up offered around the park.

The uShaka Search For The Stars competition is held in partnership with the Department of Arts and Culture.

Stella Khumalo, uShaka CEO, said that she is extremely excited to see what talent emerges from this competition, which has become a much-loved event among uShaka visitors over the years.

The competition is open to both amateurs and professionals and uShaka Search For The Stars boasts a number of categories that need to be filled with deserving talent.

If you are a dance group, the judges are looking for a minimum of three dancers specialising in one or more of the various dance styles – from pantsula, contemporary, local, international, Indian, Tswana, tin dancers, football dancers, hip-hop dancers, isigekle, kwaito dancers, ingoma yamantombazane, uShameni and gumboot dancers.

Dancers can start practising their routines in order to ensure they produce a quality performance on the day of the auditions.

Acapella singers, wedding singers, hip-hop singers, kwaito singers and afro gospel singers are also encouraged to enter in groups of four members or more, as well as professional bands.

“Making the event even more exciting is that the judges will also be searching for those with speciality acts, such as mime artists, circus performers, buskers, magicians and similar.

“UShaka has seen more than 10 000 talented performers auditioning over the past eight years and we have created jobs for over 3 500 artists.

“We look forward to seeing more talented performers share their magic with our guests,” said Khumalo.
