Muster for KZN Military Tattoo

Five lucky readers can win a pair of tickets to the KZN Military Tattoo. Enter now.

VISITORS to this year’s annual Military Tattoo are in for a day of non-stop entertainment that will thrill the whole family,

With its mass pipes and drum corps, displays of military, police and civilian performances, stirring music set to a military feast of celebration and patriotism, its a prestigious social calendar event not to be missed.

This year the Tattoo takes place from 9 to 11 July at the Natal Mounted Rifles headquarters, situated on the corner of Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (formerly NMR Avenue) and Isaiah Ntshangase Road (formerly Walter Gilbert Avenue), Durban.

The Tattoo is peppered with highlights, many of which are set firmly in the heart and minds of visitors. Among these are the lone piper piping under the spotlight from an Eyerie, and the moving rendition of the 1812 Overture by the Massed Bands, with the G1 Guns accentuating the beats in the music. These were awe-inspiring moments filled with a myriad of emotions felt by every person in the crowd.

The KZN Military Tattoo is based on the models of other famous Military Tattoos across the world, not forgetting the Durban Tattoo, which was originally hosted in Durban between 1979 to 1994. In its attempts to provide the best of military entertainment, the South African National Defence Force has brought together the best military re-enactments from across South Africa and interlaced them with phenomenal military bands and award-winning pipes and drums, resulting in the best family entertainment available in KZN.

Providing the cherry on the top of an already exciting and full programme are a number of outstanding civilian performances, including the colourfully spectacular drum majorettes, who have thrilled audiences in the past.
