Four-month water shortage angers Embo resident

Residents residing in F Section, Embo have been experiencing a water shortage for the past four months.

AN Embo father of two is urging the municipality to identify and solve the cause of a water shortage that started four months ago. Thirty-seven-year-old Mondli Biyela, who resides in F Section, Embo said they have been forced to complete their daily tasks and chores with the limited amount of water they collect from the water tank that goes to the area every two to three days.

According to Biyela, the cause of the water shortage is unknown and numerous complaints have been reported but the problem continues. “To my knowledge there is no burst or damaged pipes that could be causing the shortage. The water tank does not come to the area every day and we have to survive on the water that we are able to collect. I have two children, aged two and four, and we need the water for my baby’s milk. The service we are receiving is not right. The cause needs to be found and fixed urgently. This problem has been going on for the past four months and it becomes difficult to manage with a restricted amount of water,” said Biyela.

The municipality was questioned about the possible cause of the shortage and a time frame in which the matter will be addressed. Their response was still outstanding at the time of going to print.
