Poultry farm questioned about SPCA’s findings

The Eden Rock Poultry Farm said they will not be commenting on the issue until the court case begins.

FOLLOWING an article, which highlighted the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s shocking findings during their inspection at a poultry farm in Assagay, the Highway Mail was able to speak to the owner of the farm.

After a telephonic conversation with Cedric Cresswell, owner of the Eden Rock Poultry Farm, he was questioned via e-mail about the deplorable state of the chicken houses as well as other discoveries made by the SPCA.

Cresswell was requested to comment on the number of chickens being kept in each house on the farm, the reason why carcasses were found among live chickens, the build-up of faeces and water, hygiene and cleanliness of the farm.

The Highway Mail was then contacted by a representative from Eden Rock Poultry Farm who said they will not be commenting on this matter until the court case begins. They declined to respond to any of the questions.
