CONSTABLE Skhumbuzo Gwamanda from the Pinetown SAPS was awarded for his good work and won the July Bust of the month competition sponsored by Boxer Superstores.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Bongumusa Manqele, said Cst Gwamanda was commended after arresting a man (30) who stabbed his girlfriend to death on Saturday 26 July.

“It is alleged that the victim (22) was on her way home from work accompanied by two friends when she was confronted by a suspect in Gillits Road in Westmead near Pinetown.

“It is alleged the two had an argument and the boyfriend pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times in the head and body.

“A police car that was in the vicinity was stopped by the witnesses and when the police arrived at the scene the man was still busy stabbing the victim,” he said.

Manqele added that the man cut himself on the neck as he tried to commit suicide.
