Glee choir off to Latvia

Catch the Glee Choir's final performance for the year, before they head off to the Choir Olympics in Latvia next July.

AWARD-winning Glee Choir from Hillcrest High School is preparing for its final concert of the year, a supper theatre show at the school hall on Friday 18 October.

This small choir consists of 12 committed, dynamic, hugely talented girls whose ages range from 14 to 17 years. Last week the girls impressed all at the eThekwini Eisteddfod where they received 95 per cent and a standing ovation from the adjudicators.

They will present a programme of fun, youthful music covering musical theatre, classical, folk and pop songs. Interspersed with the choir’s repertoire will be solo performances from those girls who achieved outstanding results at the Queensburgh and eThekwini Eisteddfods this year.

Judith Hawthorn conducts the choir and her passion and off-the-wall personality ensures rehearsals are nearly as entertaining as performances. Judith is proud of the success of the choir, winning five out of six competitions in the last 18 months and she is busy preparing for the tour to the Choir Olympics in Latvia next July.

The evening begins at 6.30pm with dinner served at 7pm. There is a cash bar and a raffle draw with fantastic prizes during the evening. Tickets are R130 each which includes a two-course meal and the choir’s dazzling performance. Tickets are available from the school on 031 765 121, and booking is essential.
