Run The Rivers organisers enforce entry cap
There is a 500-person cap on each of the events in the Euro Steel Drak Descent challenge.
AS public entries open for the Euro Steel Drak Descent, the organisers stressed that the caps on all of their events would be enforced to ensure they remain fully compliant with lockdown regulations and guarantee the quality of each participant’s experience.
“We have always had a cap on our events as we want the entire experience to be personal and memorable for each runner and rider,” said one of the Sani Spoors organisers, Derek Christie. “The Covid-19 regulations have a strict cap on 500 at any one event, which simply reinforces the limit that we had in mind.”

Both events form part of the FNB Drak Adventure Weekend and have become popular stops for riders and runners looking to test themselves against the backdrop of the Drakensberg.
The Euro Steel Drak Descent reached a 50 per cent capacity through its pre-entries from previous participants and the waiting list. When the public entries opened, the remaining places are being snapped up by riders eager to take on the challenge.
Christie noted the full 90km MTB ride and the newer 43km Euro Steel MTB Challenge both start at different places and are independent of each other. The cap for each race is 500 riders.
The MTB and trail events share Underberg with the N3TC Drak Challenge and the FNB Drak Music Experience from Saturday, 30 to Sunday, 31 January 2021.
