Through its various social media platforms, the Westville Athletics Club has continued to motivate its members wtih fun activities at home.

THE passionate runners from the Westville Athletics Club have continued to remain upbeat throughout the lockdown and even hosted virtual races and Club Time Trials at home.

“Participation was huge, with more than half of the club taking up these challenges,” said the club’s chairman, Kylie Griffin.”When the President announced the easing of lockdown, and we were allowed to run on the road again, we continued to encourage our members to wear their masks and even included a virtual time trial last week where members were asked to send us photos of themselves running in their masks.”

Motivation for the group’s members was maintained through the club’s various social media groups: WhatsApp, FaceBook and Instagram.

“I urge all members to please find a mask or a buff and use it at all times when you are out. For my safety and for your own. Be the example. If you want others to wear masks for your own protection, be the example and at the same time, take responsibility for our own health and safety,” said Kylie.
