Hillcrest Primary nets Cape Town gold

The school's 1st hockey teams each claimed three wins against their competitors in the cape.

HILLCREST Primary School (HPS) embarked on its first hockey tour to Cape Town and the learners described it as nothing short of a huge success.

During the week in Cape Town, HPS played a number of schools and did exceptionally well.

The 1st boys played five games, won three, drew one and lost one while the 1st girls’ team played five games, won three and lost two.

“It was also far more than a sports tour as it was also an educational one that touched on the Western Cape and our beautiful country,” said the school’s marketing manager, Kim Joubert.

The teams saw Table Mountain, visited Robben Island and went to the V&A Waterfront and the Two Oceans Aquarium. They took a boat ride to Seal Island at Hout Bay, visited the Cape Point, saw the penguins at Boulders Beach and took a trip out to the beautiful, but very cold, J Franschoek area.

“It was also an amazing team building experience that challenged us, grew us and brought us closer together as a group as we had the most amazing time together, shared very special moments and made memories for life,” said Kim. “The tour was a massive success and a historic moment in HPS history. It has changed the culture of our school’s sport and proved that we can tour on that level and compete with the best!”
