THE Land Rover Durban – Hillcrest Villagers’ 1st and 2nd XV enjoyed a successful outing to Woodburn Stadium on Saturday afternoon where they took on the PMB Collegians Rugby Club.
The Villagers’ 2nd XV had a convincing win against their Pietermatrizburg counterparts as they dominated all facets of play. They finished with a final score of 46 to 13. Man of the Match went to Mike do Kock and Tommy Bezuidenhout.

The 1st XV used the opportunity to test some of its up-and-coming young blood and decisively outclassed its opponents with a 50 – 24 win. Man of the Match went to Sheldon Phillips (forwards) and Paul Mkize (backline).
Turaco Energy-Hillcrest Villagers’ 3rd XV had an equally successful outing as the took on and beat the Reservoir Hills Rhinos 27 – 17. The match proved to be a real test of depth as the injury-ridden squad was forced to call on many of the old and bold players to take up the gaps left in the team. Man of the Match went to Ruben Goosen and Joshua Gumede.
This Saturday afternoon the Villagers’ 1sts and 2nds will take on the Ballito Dolphins RC in an away game while the club’s 3rd XV will play Queensburogh RC at home at the Durban Shongweni Club at 3.30pm.
