Gear up for Tour Durban’s 55km race

The course has been designed to add a slight challenge for experienced riders, but also accommodates novitiates.

ENTRIES for the aQuellé Tour Durban attracted an influx of mountain bikers for its 55km event as it was designed to be an easy and accessible option for less experienced riders.

The event, added to the race in 2013, is dubbed a cyclocross race, but differs from the traditional cyclocross format.

It uses 40km of the popular out-and-back 45km fun ride and concludes with a 15km detour through farm roads and single track inland of the M4.

“The idea is the make it as manageable and doable for riders of all abilities,” said trail builder, Ian Wilson.

Only a small section of the off-road sector was made up of single track and is less than 2km in length.

The aQuellé Tour Durban takes place on Sunday, 28 April. To reserve your spot, visit www.tourdurban.co.za.
