Jack aims to compete in international races

The Highbury humble Grade 4 learner is a remarkable young man who has made significant sacrifices.

HIGHBURY Preparatory School Grade 4 learner, Jack Pullen, was awarded his provincial and national Protea colours for motorsport recently.

He competes in both regional and national motocross and has plans to compete in a few major international races this year.

Jack set a goal to obtain his national Protea colours in his first year in the sport, a goal that seemed unrealistic and simply too ambitious for anyone to achieve.

However, over the course of 2018, Jack demonstrated that through hard work, dedication, commitment and the will to win, anything is indeed possible. He has been extremely focussed and trained hard to improve his muscle memory, heart rate, concentration span, his nerve, his stamina and skill.

His proud father, Gary Pullen, said Jack has demonstrated that he is not only the fastest rider in his class on the continent, but a remarkable young man who has made significant sacrifices and learnt, albeit the hard way, of what it takes to be a champion.

Head of Foundation Phase at Highbury Preparatory School, Belinda Willows, said, “We keep speaking into the lives of our boys, ‘Highbury boys choose to do hard things.’ It is so gratifying to see Jack ‘walking the talk’ and reaching his goal. Jack remains so humble in all his successes, another incredible character trait which impresses. We are so proud of him.”
