Plans heat up for Shongweni Club show

Take your little ones to the Durban Shongweni Club this weekend for an action-packed lineup of horse-related events.

THE exciting DSC Winter Warmer Eventing Show will be hosted at the Durban Shongweni Club from Saturday, 25 to Sunday, 26 August.

Three Phase Eventing is a unique equine sport in which the riders have to compete in three disciplines, including dressage, show jumping and cross-country, all on the same horse.

This results in one of the most demanding sports for both horse and rider. Dressage demands discipline, cross country requires a great deal of courage and show-jumping is all about precision.

The dressage phase is on Saturday morning followed by showjumping in the afternoon.

Sunday will be reserved for the very exciting cross-country phase.

“This is a superb spectator sport and well worth the drive out into the country,” said rider, Belinda Jelf.

The Durban Shongweni Club is a superb venue for visitors to enjoy watching the highest level of showjumping. Entrance is free. Dogs are welcome, but they must be on leads.
