WBHS beats Pinetown Boys

In the second half Pinetown, again, came out looking to raise the games tempo with a couple quick, short passes.

A CAGEY affair was the order of the day as Westville welcomed Pinetown Boys’ to Commons field; knowing the threat the visitors posed in midfield, it was clear from the off that Westville were happy to stay compact and look to find favour on the counter.

A physical, tactical and rather patient first half ended goalless, with the hosts looking the happier of the two sides.

In the second half Pinetown, again, came out looking to raise the games tempo with a couple quick, short passes.

They looked to be gaining momentum and won a free kick on the edge of the area.

The free kick was struck with venom and narrowly missed the top left corner of the Westville goal.

Confidence and momentum was now firmly with Pinetown, and again after some good intricate play, a powerful shot looked to be finding a home in the back of the net but for a brilliant save from Nthobeko Gcabashe in the Westville goal.

Westville knew they needed to respond and respond they did.

A brilliant tackle from Westville centre back Philani Luthuli was quickly capitalised on by Joshua Davies who threaded a gorgeous ball into the path of LangaMnqoba who duly obliged scoring the opener with 25 minutes remaining.

Westville 1-0 winners of a very physical and tactical encounter.
