Reservoir Hills Rhinos smash Ogwini team

The local team will take on Kwantu this Friday at Kings Park.

THE Reservoir Hills Rhinos dismantled the experienced campaigners from Ogwini Bafana in a Durban Rugby Sub Union (DRSU) 5th Division fixture at the weekend.

The Rhinos started off sluggishly, initially standing back to a ferocious opening onslaught from Ogwini. The men from Reservoir Hills soaked up the pressure with a solid line defence. This was followed by a quick brace of tries that seemed to knock the sails out of the Umlazi opposition.

Ogwini upped the tempo with a high-risk, quick passing game in an effort to tire out the heavier Rhinos forward pack. But the team took control of the scrums. Sensing blood and opportunity in equal measure, coach Osborn made a brace of substitutions.

The Rhinos went into the break at half-time 24 – 0.

The second half proved to be just as exhilarating at an equally fast tempo. The Rhinos bid their time, kept their composure and, in another quick burst of tries, took the game past the reach of the Umlazi men.

As hard as Ogwini tried in the closing minutes to make some headway, it was too little too late as the Rhinos defence stood committed. The Rhinos won 39 – 0.

The Rhinos will compete against Kwantu on Friday, 29 June at  7pm at the Kings Park #1 outer field.
