Kearsney College’s U14A hockey team had a successful Ken Florens Festival hosted by Northwood during the holidays, losing only one match.

After a great start to the season, the team was keen to continue their good form and eagerly anticipated taking on the tough opposition drawn for the festival.

The following day, an improved performance resulted in a 7-0 win against Parktown, followed by an excellent 5-0 win against Affies.

The run of form continued, with a 1-0 win against Helpmekaar, before the heavy schedule took its toll and, after a frustrating match, Kearsney lost 1-2 to a very determined SACS team.

After a break they were ready to face Paul Roos, the festival’s strongest team, and showed tenacity, working exceptionally hard to come away with a 1-1 draw – a fair result after a very tough match.
