By lacing up and taking part in this year's East Coast Radio Big Walk you will also be supporting Saint Giles, a non-profit organisation.

WHETHER you’re the silver bullet of your running club or a Sunday morning stroller, join KwaZulu-Natal’s biggest outdoor participative event, the Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk, on Sunday, 20 May.

There are three walking routes to choose from; 5km, 10km and 20km. There is also an exciting and all-new 9km fun run as part of this firm family favourite event. Participants in all events will make their way along the promenade, from uShaka Marine World to Moses Mabhida People’s Park.

In another first this year, some of East Coast Radio’s presenters will also walk alongside participants. Catch the ECR Breakfast team doing the 5km walk, Jane Linley-Thomas and Thandolwethu walking 10km, the Drive team doing the 20km walk and Damon Beard in the 9km fun run.

East Coast Radio’s general manager, Boni Mchunu, said, “We’re so proud that the Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk has grown to become a highlight on the province’s event calendar. In an exciting addition this year we have included a charity element. A portion of every entry fee received will go to Saint Giles, a non-profit organisation in Durban for the disabled. They do amazing work providing services and support to the disabled through their remedial gymnasium and work centre. So we’re especially pleased to able to assist them in some way.”

Participants are encouraged to bring picnic baskets in at the finish line and enjoy some well deserved great entertainment.

Entries are now open and if you enter before 15 April the ticket prices are reduced and runners stand a chance to win a weekend away at Champagne Sports Resort valued at R12 000. To register, visit www.durbanbigwalk.co.za.
