Kearsney carries the bat with flair

Kearsney 1st X1 cricket team played well at the Independent Schools Cricket Festival and tennis star, Kade Mindry, performed well at the SA U18 National Tennis Championships.

KEARSNEY College 1st XI made a promising start to the cricket season at the Independent Schools Cricket Festival which was held at Hilton College.

They recorded excellent wins against St David’s, St Johns (Zimbabwe) and against Churchie (Australia).

They also played Bishops in a pre-festival 130 over game, drawing the declaration game.

Kearsney played some enterprising cricket and there was some excellent fielding; with the team displaying the desire to play positive cricket as a unit.

With the whole team making a positive contribution during the week, it bodes well for the tough cricket season which lies ahead.

KC 261/8 (Gouveia 103, Conway 58); Bishops 180/9. Match drawn.

Kearsney College vs St Davids
St Davids 79 (Bloy 4/12); KC 80/2 (Muirhead 41*). KC won by 8 wickets.

Kearsney College vs Churchie
KC 410/9 (Gouveia 82, Koenig 56, Brien 65*); Churchie 93 (Brokensha 3/9). KC won by 317 runs.

KC vs St Johns
St Johns 148; KC 150/6 (Muirhead 46). KC won by 4 wickets.

Tennis
Kearsney tennis star, Kade Mindry had a highly successful December school holiday, participating in two SA U18 National Tennis Championships.

In the first tournament, which was held in Stellenbosch, Kade lost in the semi-finals to finish third overall; going on to win the U18 tournament held in Cape Town.
