Hillcrest’s 1st girls hockey team wins U18 indoor tourney

On top of winning the tournament, Hillcrest High School's Tallyn Tregear won the most valuable player of the tournament.

HILLCREST High School’s 1st girls hockey team took part in the U18 indoor hockey tournament, hosted at Danville Girls in Durban, over the weekend. Hillcrest High’s performance was outstanding.

They progressed through the round-robin matches unbeaten, to advance into an exciting final against Northlands’ girls.

In what proved to be a close and intense final, the Hillcrest High girls went on to score the winning goal, with just 10 seconds to spare, sealing their win of the tournament.

Coach Patrick Windsor beamed, as he said: “I am super proud of my girls.”

On top of winning the tournament, Hillcrest High School’s Tallyn Tregear won the most valuable player of the tournament, even though she had only just flown back into the country on Wednesday, having returned from a Rotary exchange programme in Austria.
