Westville karateka rake in medals at champs

More than 20 members from the local club took part in the recent champs and raked in 17 medals.

Karateka from the Westville Karate Club recently competed in IFFSKSA’s 33rd national championship at UKZN’s Old Mutual Sports Centre and raked in 17 medals.

The tournament attracted 525 participants from all of the IFFSKSA affiliated dojos from around the country.

A total of 25 representatives from the local club participated at the tournament and a total of 17 medals was achieved by the club.

The club’s instructor, sensei Brian Govender, said he was pleased with the exceptional performance of his students in the face of tough competition and congratulated each of them for participating in the event.
