TO create a positive vibe and reintroduce the community to the New Germany Sport Club, the members have started a boot sale that will be held on the last Saturday of each month.
The club, in 3 Harvey Road, has been in the area for years and next year it will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Member of the New Germany Bowling Club, Eileen Shaw, said there are so many different activities at the club but they feel like people have forgotten about it.
“There are dancing classes, squash, gym (boxing and obstacle training), bowls, pool and snooker and going forward we plan to have movie nights and live bands.
“The club is open to everyone and we really appeal for community support. There is not much that families can do in New Germany and this club is one of the few places that families can utilise,” she said.
The money raised from the boot sale will go towards the daily running of the club.
“The members use their own money to maintain this place and keeping it in the good condition that it’s in,” said Shaw.
The boot sale will cost each car R100 and people can bring their own tables. It will start at 8.30am and end at 1pm. Everyone is invited to buy items at bargain prices and there will be entertainment for children.
