Pinetown cricket club looks forward to new season

The club will start the new season headed by a new coach.

AS another local cricket season fast approaches, Pinetown Cricket Club has made a good few changes including the signing of former Proteas star, Mornantau “Nantie” Hayward, as the new head coach.

Hayward will take on the role of head coach within the Pinetown Cricket Club ranks and comes in with a wealth of experience.

His first class career speaks for itself with the Proteas, County Circuit and IPL respectively and as he continues his coaching journey, Pinetown Cricket Club is excited by the knowledge and expertise he can share with the players.

He joins the club at an exciting time of the year where plans are already in motion for a solid pre-season to set the launchpad for the hunt of the Castle Premier League and first reserve trophies.

“We are looking forward to an exciting season ahead,” said recently re-elected chairman, Marco Chixaro.

He said Cricket South Africa has given an extra goal for them to aspire to now that the T20 Competition has a national club championship.

“Our junior section is doing well since moving its training base to Forest Hills Sports Club and we are expecting some special performances from our U13 team this season. Our Women’s team had a disappointing season last year, but we will be shaking things up and looking to bring in a dedicated coach for the team,” said Chixaro.

The club invites all cricketers in the Highway area to a preseason training session which will start this Sunday, 13 August at Lahee Park at 9am.
