High-kicking action for local karateka

Four members from the local academy will jet off to compete in the World Champs in Ireland in August this year.

DEDICATED karate students from the Shin-Gi-Tai Karate Academy represented the JKA KZN team at the recent SA JKA Championships in Johannesburg.

The novice belt sections, which includes white to red belts for six years old participants, to elite divisions which includes brown and black belts, took part on separate days.

Even though the competition was tough, the local karateka still brought home 26 medals, and four of the competitors were selected to represent SA JKA at the World Shoto Cup Championships in Ireland in August.

“The novice belts did exceptionally well and were awarded their SA JKA Novice colours in the event. Congratulations to everyone that competed,” said sensei Gareth Crowe.
