Seagull swimmers fly to Egypt

The swimmers look forward to competing in an international competition.

FIVE aspiring swimmers from the Seagulls Swimming Club in Pinetown have been chosen to represent KZN at the Cana Junior All Africa Championships in Cairo, Egypt from 28 to 31 March.

The swimmers are Khwezi Duma (Kloof), Kelly Crous (Westville), Kirsten de Goede (Gillitts), Chase Rayment (Kloof) and Luca Holtzhausen (Pinetown). They will represent KZN in an international competition, as part of the SA team.

Khwezi and Chase will compete in the U15 category while Kelly, Kirsten an Luca will compete in the U13 and U14 categories.

Khwezi dominates in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and the 50m and 100m butterfly, while Chase excels in 50m, 100m and 200m swim strokes except the breaststroke.

Kelly dominates the pool in the 50m, 100m, 200m backstroke and the 200m individual medley.

Kirsten prefers the 50m and 100 butterfly, 50m and 100 freestyle and 200m individual medley.

Luca excels in everything except the 800m and 1500m freestyle.

The swimmers said they look forward to making waves at the competition and hope to bring home some shiny medals.
