Imran back for Dolphins first home clash

Catch the local Durban team as they take on the VKB Knights on Thursday for a free game.

IMRAN Tahir was welcomed back into the Hollywoodbets Dolphins 12-man squad for the fourth round of the Sunfoil Series clash against the VKB Knights from 27 to 30 October at the Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.

The local team started the season with victories against the Warriors and the bizhub Highveld Lions and in their third consecutive away game they took on the Multiply Titans at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

The KZN franchise will look for a turn-around performance against the men from Bloemfontein this week as they take on their first half of the four-day campaign.”It’s great for us to have Imran again and when a guy like him does come into the mix, you need to make full use of that,” said Hollywoodbets Dolphins head coach, Grant Morgan.

Individual brilliance from the likes of Daryn Smit (121 against the Warriors), Keshav Maharaj (13-wicket match haul in the same game) and Robbie Frylinck (14-wicket match haul against the Lions) all played pivotal roles in the team’s opening two results.

While he may not have single-handedly earned his team any results thus far, Khaya Zondo should be pleased with his start to the 2016/17 campaign as he is a stand-out performer in the Dolphins top seven to date.

With two wins and a draw to their name already, the table-topping Knights will be a tough encounter. Coach Grant Morgan believes the Dolphins have what it takes to put in a strong showing on home turf. “We highly respect their team as a whole but we also respect ourselves,” he said. “If we can set up a nice batting platform and bowl with the same kind of plans that we had in our first two games, then we can use Immy Tahir as we want to use him and they’re going to have to be at their best to nullify us.”

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins will take on the VKB Knights at the Sahara Stadium Kingsmead from 27 to 30 October. The game will start at 9am on Thursday and the match is free.
