Cows cycle up a storm for CHOC

The group of cyclists raised R150 000 for the non-profit organisation.

JULIA Varty, Lauren Varty, Lynne Macrae and Iris Varty celebrated the hand over of R150 000 raised by The Cows during the annual three day, 300km GABRAN for CHOC (Childhood Haematology and Oncology Clinics).

The GABRAN (Great Annual Bicycle Ride Across Natal) is an annual event and happened in August. The ride started at the ATKV in Drakensville and saw cyclists make their way back to Hillcrest over a three-day period.

The group camped overnight at the first stop at Wagendrift Dam and the group spent the second night at Midmar Dam. “This year was a cold and wet GABRAN, but it did not dampen our spirits,” said the Cows Durban Daisy, Iris Varty. “GABRAN is not a race, it is an experience.”

Next year’s event is on Friday, 18 to Sunday, 20 August and if you would like to take part, e-mail durbsdaisy@thecows.co.za.
