Amabutho Classic heads to Giba Gorge

The exciting MTB and trail run experience will kick off at Giba Gorge on Saturday, 23 July.

GIBA Gorge will play host to the exciting Amabutho Classic Series next month on Saturday, 23 July.

The event caters for both the trail runner and mountain biker and is set to be a challenging and fun day out. The race attracts both amateur and experienced athletes who want to test their limits.

Registration is from 6.30am to 8.30am. At 8.10am the 11km MTB race will begin and at 8.15am the 28km MTB challenge will start. The 15km trail run will start at 8.30am and at 8.35am the 9km trail run will kick off. At 9am the 5km family colour trail, a MTB or trail run race, will start. Prizegiving will start at 1pm.

The family colour trail offers both parents and children an opportunity to complete a trail race together. The competitors will endure a 5km mountain bike or trail run route and is a great way to introduce both youngsters and rookie athletes to the sport. Competitors will have the option of being splashed with colour powder before heading off into the Giba forest on an adventurous trail with a few obstacles along the way.

The corporate challenge offers companies an opportunity to enter teams of four into either the 11km MTB trail or the 9km run. Whether it is social or competitive, the corporate race is a great team builder. To enter a corporate team a company has to enter teams of four into either one of the available corporate races.

The combination of all four competitors’ times will be added to determine the winning team.
