UMHLANGA Lagoon – Saturday, 25 June
Grade 1 – easy to moderate (beach walking). Walk along the promenade, to the Umhlanga Lagoon forest and coastal bush, cross the river along the beach (depending on the tide), back along coastal bush. Meet at 1.45pm at the car park opposite The Cabanas, 10 Lagoon Drive, Umhlanga Rocks. Contact hike leader Colleen on 082 735 7659.
Mzinyati Falls (Inanda) – Sunday, 26 June
Grade 3 to 4 – difficult to strenuous. Distance 8 to 10km. Hike on hilly terrain from Inanda dam to the falls and back. This is a Green Corridor initiative. Meet at 8am at Union Main, 45 Old Main Rd, Pinetown to drive in convoy to Inanda Dam. Entrance fee R25. Guard R10. Petrol sharing R25. Contact hike leader Philip Collyer on 082 417 0204.
Assagay Suburbs – Saturday, 2 July
Grade 2 – moderate. Distance ±10km. Meet at 1.45pm at Sugar Loaf Centre on Old Main Road, Bothas Hill to walk the streets of Assagay. Contact hike leader Werner on 084 206 7836.
Highstakes/Killarney Rockeries (Cato Ridge) – Sunday, 3 July
Grade 2 to 3 – easy to moderate. Distance ±14km. Steep in places, but rewarded with sighting of aloes. Meet at 8am at Union Main Centre, 45 Old Main Road, Pinetown, or at 8:20am at Cato Ridge turn off (exit 53), or follow signboards to Highstakes. Hike will start at 8.30am. Treasure Beach (Bluff) – Saturday, 9 July
Grade 1 – easy. Distance ±7km. Meet at 1.45pm at Treasure Beach parking on 62 St Geran Grove, Bluff for a walk along this beach to the pools and back. Contact hike leader Tina on 083 289 6276.
Nagle Dam – Sunday, 10 July
Grade 3 – moderate. Distance ±15km. Hike through the tunnel and around the dam, remember to take torches. Take own drinks and relax at the dam after the hike.
