Westville Old Boy to make waves in USA

The local swimmer has been chosen to train and swim with the Wildcats at the University of Kentucky.

PETER Wetzlar, a former pupil at Westville Boys’ High School and a member of Westville Swimming Club for the past five years, has secured a scholarship to the University of Kentucky in the USA.

This first division swimming university will be Peter’s home for the next four years, where he will study for his BCom in finance. Peter has represented Zimbabwe for the past five years at the Junior All Africa Games, the World Short Course Championships, the second African Youth Olympic Games, the Junior World Championships and the All African Games.

The nineteen-year-old will start his studying and training with the Wildcats (the men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic squads at the University of Kentucky) in June and will be representing Zimbabwe later this year in the world Short Course Championships in Canada and again in Region 5 in Angola. “My future lies before me. I am so looking forward to get down to the hard work and use this opportunity in every way. The prospects that this scholarship holds for me are immense and exciting,” said Peter.
