STAINBANK Nature Reserve, Yellowwood Park – Saturday, 14 May

This will be a slow walk to suit all walkers for 90 minutes. Walking starts at 7.30am sharp. Please be in the reserve before the start. Visit the Facebook page Kenneth Stainbank Honorary Officers’ Group for photos of the walk. Information and future events will be posted on this site. Crowned Eagle Conservancy – Saturday, 14 May

Grade 1 – Easy. Something different in a guided walk through the privately owned Conservancy taking in the indigenous flora and fauna and areas of historical interest. This is a great hike for beginners. There is a R20 donation a person towards the upkeep of the Conservancy. Meet at 1. 45pm at the Gillitts Post Office shopping centre on 2 Clifton Road, off Old Main Rd.

Valley of 1000 Hills – Sunday, 15 May

Grade 3 to 4 – Strenuous, distance ±18km. Hike into the valley and follow the river before scrambling back up to the dirt road then back down to the river before the final climb out of the valley, via the dam. Steep in parts. Meet at 7:30am at the Union Main Centre on 45 Old Main Road, Pinetown, or at 8am at the Pot and Kettle on 168 Old Main Road, Botha’s Hill. Petrol sharing R15. Mzinyathi Falls – Saturday, 21 May

Grade 2 – Moderate, vertigo warning. This is a beautiful walk to the falls overlooking the gorge. Entrance fee is R25. Meet at 1.30pm at Mozambik Restaurant parking area on 9 Inanda Road, Hillcrest to drive in convoy to the Mzinyathi Falls parking area at 1.45pm. Contact hike leader Philip Collyer on 082 417 0204.
