‘Moo-lah’ for charity

The event was held to help raise funds for all the young superheroes fighting various forms of cancer.

The Great Annual Bicycle Ride Across Natal (GABRAN) saw over 150 entrants participating this year.

This 300km, three-day cycle tour from Drakensville to Hillcrest was in aid of raising funds for The Cows – a fundraising arm of CHOC (Childhood Heamotology Oncology Clinics).

All the GABRAN participants – from cyclists to back-up drivers and support crew – truly embraced the Cows’ ‘Love Living Life’ slogan in order to raise much-needed funds for all the young superheroes fighting various forms of cancer.

“We were blown away when we counted the ‘moo-lah’ and came to a grand figure of R70 000. We could not believe our ‘hooves’ when one of our corporate participants, Liviero (who had sent some riders on the event) confirmed a further donation of R80 000 to the cause,” said Lynne Macrae, Durban Cows spokesman.

Next year’s GABRAN dates have been confirmed for 19, 20 and 21 August, 2016. Contact the Westville Cycle Club on 031 767 4448 for information.

“Thank you from the bottom of our ‘hooves’ for helping us make GABRAN 2015 ‘udderly’ amazing,” added Macrae.
