Enjoy a guided walk
Follow the keen birders at your own pace to enjoy all that Springside Nature Reserve has to offer.
LOCAL birding expert, Lesley Frescura, will lead the Palmiet Nature Reserve trail on Sunday, 6 September.
The trail will start at 7.30am – meet Les in the car park of the reserve in Old New Germany Road, Westville for a two-hour walk to view the spring birds. There is no charge, but donations for the reserve’s upkeep are appreciated.

The Hillcrest Conservancy is hosting a guided walk on Wednesday, 9 Sepember in Springside Nature Reserve, Hillcrest at 8.30 am. A birding will be led by Derek Spencer or other knowledgeable birders. Follow the keen birders at your own pace to enjoy all that Springside Nature Reserve has to offer. Easy walks on well maintained paths, everyone is welcome. Tea or coffee will be served in the Resource Centre after the walks. Donations accepted for on-going Hillcrest Conservancy projects. Contact Sue on 031 765 6809.
The guided long walk by Krantzkloof honorary officers is a strenuous walk for hikers only.Hikers are urged to take water, hat, snacks and wear good walking shoes. The guide walk will be at the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve on Sunday, 6 September from 8am to 2pm.
