Trail run to raise funds for Interpretive Centre renovations

Support Kloof Conservancy's 3 Falls Trail Run.

Fast becoming a prominent event on the trail running calendar, the Kloof Conservancy’s increasingly popular 3 Falls Trail Run will take place on Sunday, 9 August from Forest View Primary School.

Registration is from 5.10am and the run starts at 6.30am. The distance is 18km but this year they will introduce a 6,5km walk for families and supporters. The walk follows the same route as the runners but exits the reserve in the vicinity of the Nkonka Crack.

Forest View Primary School will provide safe parking as well as a tuckshop to raise funds for the school.

The 3 Falls Trail Run was first introduced in 2012 – 112 runners took part and R20 000 was raised for the repairs to the Field Rangers accommodation at the Ntombeni Outpost in Krantzkloof Nature Reserve. In 2013 the number grew to 267 runners and in 2014 to 281, raising R55 600. Funds raised in 2013 and 2014 were used towards building the new entrances at the Kloof Falls Road and Nkutu picnic sites.

Funds raised in this year’s event are earmarked for improvements to the Interpretative Centre on Kloof Falls Road. The plan is to convert it into a conference and wedding venue and funds raised from the hire of the venue will be used to improve the reserve.

Entrance fee is R200, limited to 300 runners. Visit www.kloofconservancy.org.za for entry details.
