Striders road races a runaway hit

Kearsney Striders Running Club reveals the results of its annual half-marathon and 10km road races.

THE Kearsney Striders Running Club successfully hosted its annual half-marathon and 10km road races on Sunday 19 January at Kearsney College in Botha’s Hill.

According to Alen Hattingh, of the KZN Athletics board, 1333 people entered the races. It was also reported that 795 and 378 runners completed the half marathon and 10km run before the cut of time, respectively.

Stanley Samuel won (69:59) the open men’s section of the half marathon, while Jenna Challenor won (82:28) in the women’s section.

Siyabonga Nkonde won (31:51) in the men’s section of the 10km run and Fikile Mbuthuma (44:22) won the women’s section.

Edmund Mthethwa was the winner of the junior man 10km race (43:34) and Nondumiso Khoza was the winner of the junior women 10km race (49:40).
