Relay gives graduates a running start

All in the name of a good cause, companies entered into this year's Business Relay to raise funds for the RedCap Foundation.

The recent KPMG Business Relay was a great success and was won by the eThekwini Electricity team – the first KZN-based team to win in over ten years.

The event attracted hundreds of top companies from across the province which competed against each other to raise funds for The RedCap Foundation. The foundation’s highly successful JumpStart programme, focuses on combating youth unemployment throughout South Africa.

According to Natasja Ambrosio, the business sustainability manager for the Mr Price Group and director for the RedCap Foundation, job seekers require experience in a number of different sectors. “Initially, we offered work experience only within the Mr Price Group retail stores, but we realised that we need to spread the net wider and so we are looking to expand our work experience partnerships. Many of the successful Jumpstart graduates have found permanent employment following their week of experiential work, this due to the promise, potential and enthusiasm they displayed,” said Nastasja.
