Ready, steady, save

SBS pupil Daniel Marques excells in soccer

ST Benedict School has chosen Daniel Marques (Grade 8) as the star of the month as he was recently selected for the KZN High Schools U14 soccer team, which toured Gauteng from Friday 20 to Monday 23 September.

Daniel started playing soccer at the age of seven and in his short playing career has already produced much success.

Last year he was awarded the U13 player of the year and he represented DCFA at U13 level at the regional tournament held at Westville Old Boys Soccer Club (WOBSC).

In April this year he played for the U17 team in the Engen knockout tournament.

Head of high school at SBS Darren de Gouviea-Smith said “Although only 14 years old, Daniel’s exceptional talent has afforded him the opportunity to already play for St Benedict School’s 1st team.

“He is a level-headed and determined young man.

“Daniel has his eyes firmly fixed on his dream of being a professional soccer player. He has a very bright future and I have no doubt that he will play professionally in the years to come,” said de Gouviea-Smith.
