Local rugga represents KZN in touch rugby.

KEANAN Gordon Baker, a Grade 10 pupil at Pinetown Boys’ High School, was recently chosen to be on the U17 KZN touch rugby team.

“I went to trials just to see if I had the chance to make it into the team as I was told by friends that it would increse my performance in normal rugby games,” said Keanan.

He began playing rugby in Grade 2 and decided to give touch rugby a try when he was in grade 3.

“I started playing rugby after watching the games on TV with my family and I knew that I had to start playing the sport,” said Keanan. He trains with his team every Sunday at Northlands Girls’ High School.

He is the ultimate sports fundi and is in the 1st team for cricket, athletics hockey and rugby.

Keanan hopes to study sport science when he finishes school. “I have a passion for rugby and really enjoy it, should I get the chance, I would definitely do it as a carreer,” said Keanan.
