THE annual Peg Street Kings downhill longboarding race will take place in the heart of Durban North, Danville Avenue on Friday 9 August.
The event is sanctioned by SAGRA (South African Gravity Racing Association) and forms part of the calendar which eventually crowns a South African champ. The racing takes place all day with riders going through various rounds culminating in a final race of six riders competing for the coveted Peg Street Kings title, which will add valuable points towards being crowned the South African Champion.
There are two categories; professional and amateur which are both divided up into three age categories; junior 1- riders between the ages of 8-14, junior 2 – riders between 15-18 years of age, and open competitors from 19 years old and above.
To enter the professional category, athletes will need a leather suit, full face helmet and longboarding gloves. The amateur series will require the riders to have a full face helmet and longboarding gloves with protection pads being highly recommended.
