Glide on down to longboarding race

Durban will be playing host to the annual Peg Street Kings longboarding race this Friday.

THE annual Peg Street Kings downhill longboarding race will take place in the heart of Durban North, Danville Avenue on Friday 9 August.

The event is sanctioned by SAGRA (South African Gravity Racing Association) and forms part of the calendar which eventually crowns a South African champ. The racing takes place all day with riders going through various rounds culminating in a final race of six riders competing for the coveted Peg Street Kings title, which will add valuable points towards being crowned the South African Champion.

There are two categories; professional and amateur which are both divided up into three age categories; junior 1- riders between the ages of 8-14, junior 2 – riders between 15-18 years of age, and open competitors from 19 years old and above.

To enter the professional category, athletes will need a leather suit, full face helmet and longboarding gloves. The amateur series will require the riders to have a full face helmet and longboarding gloves with protection pads being highly recommended. Danville Avenue, Durban North, will be closed to traffic from 6am to 6pm on Friday 9 August. Enter online at www.pegstreetkings.co.za or at the Peg Store on Essenwood Road. Entries cost of R200 a rider.
