Road closure notice:

Traffic accommodation plan for the permanent closure of the road between Wyebank station and 11th Avenue on Dinkelman road.

Motorists, commuters, pedestrians, public transport operators and residents in the Pinetown, New Germany, Wyebank, KwaDabeka, Clermont and Newlands areas are advised of the permanent closure of the South Bound Carriageway on MR577 from Wyebank interchange to 11th Avenue Bridge. This is due to the construction of the new 11th Avenue Bridge.

The road affected is: Dinkelman Road (MR577) South Bound traffic from Wyebank Interchange to 11th Avenue (about 1200 m).

Traffic accommodation plans have been put in place and motorists are advised to familiarise themselves with these and proceed with caution on these alternate routes (marked out as DEVIATION). Drivers are advised that this alternate route is through a residential area with schools and should proceed carefully. Residents and pedestrians in the alternate route areas are advised to be mindful of the increase in traffic over two weeks from

18th January – 3 February 2021.

THE CLOSURE WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN TWO PHASES:

PHASE 1: Road closed from the 18th Jan – 24 Jan during working hours only, from 07H30 to 16H00

PHASE 2: Road closed completely from the 25th Jan – 3rd Feb 2021, during the day and night.

Vehicles travelling on the South Bound Carriageway to Pinetown –

That is from Wyebank / KwaDabeka / Newlands and along the MR 577 Dinkelman Road, will be diverted up the new Wyebank Interchange on-ramp.

Vehicles will turn left onto Wyebank Road.

Vehicles will turn right onto Khululeka Road.

After 57m, Vehicles to turn right into Zazi Road.

After 1200m (1.2km), vehicles will turn right onto 11th Avenue and the traffic will then join onto Dinkelman Road.

The eThekwini Transport Authority recommends that commuters aim to leave a little earlier than usual for their destinations to avoid any possible congestion.
