With fewer staff working harder and longer and creative fundraising alternatives (such as our Hidden Treasures Marquee and initiatives such as Save Our SPCA, where our volunteers and friends rallied together to ensure funds were donated) made it possible to keep our society open and operational.
The ever-increasing demands of more animals being surrendered or dumped, animal cruelty cases requiring our inspectors to be on the road constantly, and our clinic being stretched to capacity, have taken a toll on our SPCA.
With the third wave upon us, and the move to level 4, a renewed anguish for the welfare of our animals has risen within our team.
Our upcoming and vital outreach clinic has to be postponed and entertainment in our tea garden needs to cease as we adhere to the regulations.
Our shops will remain open under strict social distancing protocol.
We will continue with adoptions, through appointment only, as we have so many beautiful kittens, puppies, cats and dogs needing homes.
The anguish our team is feeling is eased by the knowledge that, through it all, you have been by our side, encouraging us, supporting us and being an amazingly active community. Thank you. We have many happy stories to share with you all.
The Kloof and Highway SPCA prides itself on being one of the most proactive societies fighting against animal cruelty.
We owe it to all animals and to you, our supportive community, to be there every time we are needed.
