‘Hole’ lotta problems

Letter to the Editor - week ending 30 April 2021.

THE purpose of this letter is to seek action, in the hope of preventing injuries to persons and damage to vehicles on Niagara Drive in Waterfall.

Work on a water pipeline of just one kilometre commenced some four years ago and remains a danger to people using the pathway and road on Niagara Drive.

In the event of injuries to the community and damage to vehicles using this road, who is to blame for what is the inevitable if the matter is not fixed? The dangerous hole is on the path, near Tugela Road. On one occasion I heard a scream as an old lady almost fell into the hole/grave while talking to a friend alongside her.

On 30 March this year, I visited the Outer West Council offices and mentioned my concerns to an official at the council, who politely listened to my comments on the matter and received a short draft of this letter. It would take little effort on the part of the council to repair the matters mentioned.

The hole on the road is on a sharp bend and the hole is alongside a path used by bikers, walkers, runners and pedestrians. I would be available to give evidence in any legal issues that might arise when injuries or fatality takes place, as a result of this negligence.
