Spotting the difference

"We need to give credit where credit is due and the beautification work is thanks to The Kloof Project who are a separate organisation from The Kloof Conservancy." - Paolo Candotti

I NOTE the article in this week’s edition (week ending 3 July) of the Highway Mail – Kloof is a beautiful suburb – where you added a comment thanking “the Kloof Conservancy folk”.

We need to give credit where credit is due and the beautification work is thanks to The Kloof Project (formerly Keep Kloof Beautiful Association) who are a separate organisation from The Kloof Conservancy.

I realise its a bit confusing but the general modus operandi is as follows:

The Kloof Project – manage the beautification of a number of key intersections/nodes/verges in Kloof as well as portions of the railway reserve. Their focus is on making the suburb look attractive and they do an amazing job. They also do so in an environmental sensitive manner so most (if not all) their plantings are indigenous species.

The Kloof Conservancy – is primarily concerned with environmental issues and focuses on environmental rehabilitation projects and environmental advocacy in a broad sense.I think the two organisations complement each other very well but the credit for the great appearance of the suburb must go to The Kloof Project!
