City of Durban does not care

"You all have the audacity to call yourselves 'Africa's most caring city'?"

IT is 2.45pm on Tuesday afternoon and for well over four and a half hours now, there has been no electricity in Bamboo Lane.

You all have the audacity to call yourselves ‘Africa’s most caring city’?

For who and how many of your regular rate-paying and elderly citizens, I wonder!

We have had well over 60 hours of load-shedding since Christmas, but does eThekwini ever give us a reduction for the hours that we are minus electricity?

No, yet we loyally continue to pay an exorbitant amount for rates and services every month (those few of us who do pay), without fail or argument, with the cost only decreasing slightly once in a blue moon when you decide to send someone to actually read the complex’s meter, instead of giving us an estimate every month!

This situation with our power in Bamboo Lane has been going on for years now and that’s without the now regular rotational blackouts, which are quite obviously beginning to cause serious harm to your already aged and un-maintained infrastructure. This is not value for money and is pretty unacceptable, to put it quite politely.

“Caring city’, what a huge, sick joke!
