Home Affairs lack compassion

"A few weeks ago I had my fair share of total disrespect from some of the staff members and security who congregated at the main entrance upon my arrival mid-morning."

I was not in the least surprised to have read this letter about the disgraceful conditions and arrogant workers at Home Affairs by S Roberts from Kloof, dated 19 April.

A few weeks ago I had my fair share of total disrespect from some of the staff members and security who congregated at the main entrance upon my arrival mid-morning.

As I had surgery to my foot, during which screws were inserted as part of the procedure, I was on crutches with the foot secured in a Moonboot.

I approached these people at the entrance and tried to explain my situation to them requesting entrance with the hope of getting some form of preference, but was very quickly, and in no uncertain terms, told to follow the queue and they continued their conversation.

Not even a request for them to view the copy of the x-ray of the foot as proof of the procedure made any difference.

I will appreciate if Home Affairs could take the time and answer my question, ‘What more must a person in my current position do to be treated with respect and dignity and get some form of additional personal attention I deserve to get my ID and passport renewals sorted?’
