TWELVE years ago, I wrote a letter to the Highway Mail asking if there were any persons interested in forming an association to address the issues of beautification in our area Hillcrest.
To my delight and amazement, I received five replies.
Two of those five persons are still voluntary members on the committee of the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association and have contributed hugely to its success.
The only thing that remains the same is change and it is with regret that our founding member, who has been treasurer for eight years and chairman for two years, is leaving for pastures green. We are enormously sad to see her go.
So as a result, I am writing another letter of appeal.
Is there someone out there who has recently retired, is community minded, would like to meet a group of lovely people and would be happy to take on a position as an office bearer?
I need to add that it is a voluntary position.
